In this project, I would like to express ‘The Stranger’ by doing a performance with two suitcases on Grand Central Train Station. I didn’t use actual suitcases but produced metamorphosis ones. They reference the body and are skin-like, made with synthetic leather, fabric, treads, and mixed media.
I am a stranger who came from Korea. Even most Americans who have lived in the US are not real native people. They are immigrants from Europe. I think that we all might be a stranger in our life, like in the book ‘The Stranger’ wrote by Albert Camus.
The place, Grand Central Train Station is for travelers who are the strangers. When we pack up our suitcase to go or travel, we put the most needful and important stuff in that. For that reason, if we see one’s suitcase, we can grasp his or her personality. So, according to this project, I want to show about a sense of alienation.....back to NY menu
