Oreet Ashery 2

The piece is looking at the notion of the Skinhead as a visual and a cultural signifier; from National front, or, Gay fashion code, to women who had their head shaved forcefully in Europe post WWII as a humiliating sign that they slept with Nazis. Site specifically the piece looks at the shaving of heads in the concentration camps during the holocaust. In terms of Jewish history the 'skinhead' as a visual signifier follows from the Jewish victim of the holocaust to the image of the ultra masculine Israeli soldier.
